Hello to all,
Where have you all been!
Between work and my new training plan it has been a hectic few weeks.
In my last post I mentioned I was running in The Age Run Melbourne in July.
Just give you a brief run through of where this is heading.
I am one week into my training for the end of year Gatorade series.
However I have adjusted the running to be a little more aggressive and it is in line with a marathon distance training plan. Some may disagree with the approach though running is where I started and I still have a few things to cross off my bucket list.
The marathon being one of them!
Sure I could wait until next year when my ironman training is in full flight and it would be more appropriate but I'm not going to sit on my hands and watch them go by. I enjoy them too much and it will benefit my training in the long run.
I have two half marathon events locked in for lead ups. There is one in July and one in August.
Hopefully this will prepare me ideally for the Melbourne Marathon in October.
A lot of km will go into the legs and so far I am loving the challenge.
It has been about a year since I was covering 30+ km per week.
It's led to a tough two weeks (the blisters on my feet will vouch for the that) but I feel I'm getting back into the rhythm and breathing patterns nicely. I've missed my long runs.
It's a good feeling knowing I can pick it straight back up with a nice easy 16km run. A great confidence booster!
I do 4 sessions a week but Sunday morning is my long run.
So far the weather has been kind and really sets the tone for a nice Sunday. A nice feed and hot shower after it and the rest of the day with the fiancee. A good way to end the week.
So now I will slowly increase my load for the next 23 weeks to hopefully complete my first marathon.
It will be hard but like everything else... crossing the line will be worth every minute of training and every second of pain.
